First
can you briefly tell us about yourself? What is your profession? Any
special hobbies?
I
am an initiated priestess of the Correllian Nativist Tradition. I
received my initiation on Wednesday the 29th of June, in the year 9
Aquarius under the auspices of the Rt. Rev. Lord Terry Power, HP; and
have been studying Wicca for over ten years now. What drew me to this
spiritual path is love of nature and earth, of magick and myth, and
of life in all of its wondrous expressions and manifestations. I work
exclusively with the Slavonic Pantheon, namely Mati Syra Zemlya,
Moist Mother Earth, Lesovik, the male woodland spirit, and Baba Yaga,
the Bone Crone Mother and Arch-Patroness Deity of my soul. I am an
ambassador of Faerie. My faerie guides are Dragonfly and Snail, my
power animals are Wolf and Owl, and my mythic totems are Unicorn and
Dragon. Specializing
in Shrine Management and Ritual, I am the Shrine Head and Director of
the Correllian Formal Distance Shrine, Altar of the Arcane Song,
under the auspices of Lord Terry Power’s Celtic Cross Temple. In my
mundane life I am a nursery school teacher, and I love to write and
sing.
When
did you begin your path? What inspired you to walk this journey?
I
began my path 11 years ago. It is home. When I was first and formally
introduced to Wicca through a book about magickal philosophy lent to
me by my devout Christian stepmother to read during her Wednesday
prayer meet so that my wandering mind would be better engaged, that
was the feeling I found - home. Love has inspired me to walk this
journey ever since.
Can
you tell us a little about your path? How would you describe
yourself?
My
personal path is primarily devotional. It is called Mythic Earth. As
I believe that all of life is magick, I do not specialize in spell
work or potions, but rather in celebration and exploration, worship
and ritual, through myth and spiritual experience, communion and
mystical connection, with nature, the worlds within and the realms
beyond, with deity and with the divine. I would describe myself as
being fiercely and passionately spiritual.
Does
the path you've chosen affect your profession? If so, how?
Not
thus far. I’m fairly frank about being pagan, but I do not go into
the details of the Wiccan way unless specifically asked. I allow my
principal to know that I am not Christian and that I will not be
conducting or participating in any Christian worship, prayers or
general indoctrination and I have never had an issue with being
reassigned to a school.
Is
community important to you, or do you prefer to express you beliefs
as a solitary?
Yes,
community is of utmost importance to me, but I do prefer to express
my beliefs as a solitary practitioner. The subject of community is a
bit of a double-headed snake for me because it has been my experience
that finding decent community membership is a trial and a hardship, a
difficulty and a bother. Respect is a very scarce commodity in our
current world, whether it is for deity or our brothers and sisters in
spirit.
Are
you associated with any organizations, volunteer work, or groups that
support your spiritual beliefs?
Yes
I am. I am a member and initiated priestess of the Correllian
Nativist Wicca Tradition and its affiliate organization Witch School
International. I am also a member of The Temple of the Dancers of
Shakti and the Shrine Head and Director of the Barbados-based
Correllian Distance Formal Shrine, Altar of the Arcane Song. I
practice Mythic Earth spirituality (my own personal path).
Would
you say your path has been an easy or difficult journey? Any advice
for someone new to this path?
It
has been easy journey to embark on, but it has not been difficult to
deal with those who wouldn’t want me to embark upon it, such as my
devout, fundamentalist Christian parents. Be strong in who you know
you are, and never sacrifice that person for the comfort of others.
Happiness is a choice. Pursue your own happiness, follow your own
bliss, learn the lesson you choose for yourself, embrace the
experience of existence that is divinity made manifest through your
personal, point of power, and never regret. I believe that this is
our Purpose here in this world, and the closer we draw to that
Purpose the closer we draw to Return and to Goddess.
I
am Faerie.
Finally,
what three books would you say most influenced your path.
I
don’t remember the name of the book that put me on this path, but
by far the ones that have since most influence my path are Scott
Cunningham’s Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner
and Living Wicca also
by Scott Cunningham.
Whimsically
